Girls and boys right at school #Afghanistan

Project type: Emergency and development
Sectors: Emergency, education, environment and natural resources
Background: Cesvi has been working in Afghanistan since 2001, when a Country Office was established in Taluqan, Takhar province, Northern Afghanistan. In April 2002 a Country Coordination Office was opened in Mazar-e-Sharif. From May 2002, Cesvi implemented an Integrated Multi-Sectorial Reintegration Project, co-funded by UNHCR, targeting IDPs, Returnees and their communities of return, to ensure survival and provide shelter to the most vulnerable people.
In 2006 Cesvi moved its operations in the province of Herat implementing projects to support local civil protection (ANDMA). The intervention aimed at reinforcing the response to frequent natural emergencies which hit different areas of the province at high hydro-geological risk. At the same time, Cesvi supported three villages to reinforce river banks in order to prevent floods. It also undertook punctual actions in favor of vulnerable communities in the urban areas of Herat.
